You had me at Laphroaig 10. I know there is better Scotch out there, but there isn’t Scotch out there that I like better. I’ve also got a bottle of Auchentoshan in the cabinet, too.

The Auch 3 wood is my absolute favorite. The laphroaig 10 was a gift. Little to peaty for me but it’s good. I’m much more of a bourbon person other then that Auch but the monkey shoulder should be good

I like my whisky to taste like biting into a burning chunk of peat.

I need to get something decent in my cabinet. I’m all out of scotch. I am a bad person.

Do you want me to pull the monkey shoulder out to see if its worth the $35? It’s a scotch blend. I have heard everyone talk about it but have never had it.

You will never find whiskey that taste like that. If it taste like that, then your drinking Scotch, not whisley or borubon.
American smoke is smokey(like burning long), Scotish smoke is peat.

I’ll give the buy buy buy signal. Smells less peaty than it is but having Laphroaig before hand kind of screwed up my tasting.

Oh, I know. Hence the spelling. Funny enough, I think my childhood trip to Ireland was probably a catalyst for me liking heavily-peated whisky. Part of the trip was spent in rural Western Ireland staying in a thatch-roofed cottage that was heated primarily by a peat fireplace. That place and the smell of the gently smoldering peat fire while the rain fell outside might be the most soothing thing I’ve ever known. Islay Scotches taste like that smell and take me back to that place.
At 13, I didn’t have any whisky (or whiskey) on that trip, but pulls from pints of Guinness were offered with regularity.

Haha that’s great. I don’t do peat we’ll still. I love fruit flavors in my brown liquors.

I’m not a Scotch drinker but I do like the Auchentoshan, but unlike other Scotches, it’s triple distilled* and drinks more like an Irish whiskey.
* the only other triple distilled Scotch is the Campbeltown Springbank.

Grab some ‘merican bourbons. Anything that says Buffalo Trace distillery. BUY. IT. No matter the price. Their cheapest stuff is half the price of everything else it’s taste.

I’m an Irish whiskey drinker, bourbon does less for me than Scotch.
At our place we sell Auchentoshan American Oak for £32 but it often comes down to £20.
Preferred drink is Feeling Single Grain followed by Feeling Single Malt.

I need at least 3-4 more.
Says me every autumn. It never ends.
Every year there are at least a few spirits I want to try based on a recent experience with something similar or new releases are announced and I just need to have them. I drink about the equivalent of a bottle a year. I now have over 40.

I see a problem here. You have Buffalo Trace and it’s still full. Unless that’s also in the decanter, then I’ll accept it.

Need some Highland Park, Lagavulin, Macallan, and maybe a Balvanie. Also find a Pinckney Bend, possibly one of each since I haven’t yet had something of theirs that isn’t exceptional for the price.

A little bit of both hah. These bottles are anywhere from 1 day old(two on the left) to almost 3 years old( got the devils cut for my birthday). I like to try a little and then store it until I can try it with someone.

Myself, really. I can’t compete with my friends that do collect them more than I do I’m going for the look when I line them all up where I go “crap. That’s a lot”.

Everytime I do a bourbon tasting or go or of town I discover there are 1-3 more I need, and then I always end up getting one I’ve been waiting on. I’m heading back to the store today to pick up Stag Jr. that was offered to me, but I didn’t take. Talked with a buddy who wanted it. Somehow I’ve earned the ability to get some of the “we don’t have that in stock unless we like you” liquors without spending relatively that much

For Irish I really like Rebreast. Funny enough, I’ve heard the 12 is better than the 15.

My wife works at a local liquor store, and the owner has the same sort of list, that I’m fortunate enough to be on. It’s nice then an owner sells the good stuff without marking it up. Those two Wellers are boh in my cabinet. Also recently picked up a Blantons “N”.
A really fun whiskey is the High West - Campfire whiskey. It’s a blend of Scotch, Whiskey, and Bourbon. I didnt think I’d like it, but it has the perfect balance of all three whiskeys, and it’s just a fun drink to have.

I can tell you as an ex drinker I could never keep that much liquor around - buy it and drink it was how I operated.
Have fun!

Like I told someone else, There’s bottle in here that have been in the cabinet for 3 years. The one that gets really hit is in the decanter but that’s 1792 so not nearly as expensive.

I need that. If it tells you anything about my obsession with trying a half billion types of liquor, I am literally having UnderSTeerEnthusiest bring me beer that I can’t get from Cincinnati. Last time my wife went to Birmingham, she brought back nearly $70 in beer.

Importing beer from Cincinnati? That’s pretty hard core. If I can think of the name or run across anything else interesting, I’ll let you know.
